GEPCO Unit Price 2026: Per Unit Rates and Slabs
The GEPCO unit price for your home depends on three things: how many units you use, whether you are a protected or unprotected consumer, and this month’s adjustments. Below you will find every current NEPRA slab rate, the fixed charge per kW, and the real cost of a unit once tax is added.

GEPCO Unit Price at a Glance
For an unprotected home, the GEPCO unit price in September 2026 runs from Rs 22.44 for 1–100 units to Rs 47.20 above 700 units. Protected homes pay Rs 10.54 for their first 100 units and Rs 13.01 for units 101–200. Lifeline homes pay Rs 3.95 or Rs 7.74.
On top of the slab rate, every non-lifeline bill adds a fixed charge per kW, the fuel price adjustment (FPA), the quarterly adjustment (QTA), the F.C. surcharge and 18% GST. As a result, the price you actually pay per unit is always higher than the slab rate.
The real GEPCO unit price after charges and tax
This table divides the full estimated bill by the units used, so it shows what one unit really costs you this month.

The all-in figure includes the fixed charge, FPA of Rs 2.0581, QTA of Rs 0.5194, the F.C. surcharge and 18% GST. It leaves out arrears and income tax, which depend on your account.
How GEPCO Slab Rates Work
NEPRA splits domestic usage into slabs of 100 units. However, protected and unprotected homes use those slabs in very different ways, and that difference explains most bill shocks.
Unprotected homes: one rate for every unit
An unprotected home pays the rate of the slab its monthly total falls in, on every single unit. For example, 250 units cost 250 × Rs 33.10 = Rs 8,275 in energy charges, because 250 falls in the 201–300 slab.
That is why crossing a slab limit hurts. At 300 units the rate is Rs 33.10, but at 301 units every unit jumps to Rs 36.46.
Protected homes: the benefit of one previous slab
A protected home gets a gentler ladder. It always pays Rs 10.54 for its first 100 units, and only units 101–200 cost Rs 13.01. So 150 units cost 100 × Rs 10.54 + 50 × Rs 13.01 = Rs 1,704.50.
To stay protected, a home must use 200 units or less in each of the last six months. Once it crosses 200 units, GEPCO bills that month and the next six at unprotected rates.
Lifeline homes: the lowest GEPCO unit price
Lifeline is a special tariff for homes that use up to 100 units a month and have a very small sanctioned load. They pay Rs 3.95 per unit up to 50 units and Rs 7.74 up to 100 units, with no fixed charge and no FPA or QTA.
GEPCO Fixed Charges Per kW
Since February 2026, most domestic bills carry a fixed charge for each kW of sanctioned load, whatever the units. For instance, a 2 kW home in the 201–300 slab pays 2 × Rs 350 = Rs 700 a month in fixed charges.

Protected homes also pay a fixed charge per kW, while lifeline homes pay none. You will find your sanctioned load printed as “Load” on your bill. If it is higher than you need, ask your sub-division office about reducing it, since every extra kW adds to the bill.
FPA, QTA and F.C. Surcharge: What Changes the GEPCO Unit Price
The slab rates stay fixed for months at a time. Meanwhile, two adjustments move the GEPCO unit price up or down almost every billing cycle, and one surcharge stays on every bill.

NEPRA holds a public hearing before each decision, and the result can be a charge or a relief. When it is a relief, the adjustment appears as a negative amount and lowers your bill. You can read each decision on NEPRA’s website.
The F.C. surcharge works differently. It is not a NEPRA adjustment but a government debt service surcharge, so it stays at the same rate every month: Rs 3.23 per unit for unprotected homes and Rs 0.43 for protected homes.
Taxes Added to the GEPCO Unit Price
GEPCO works out taxes on your electricity charges, so they rise with the unit price. For an ordinary home, only GST applies in most months.

GEPCO unit price on peak and off-peak (ToU) meters
Homes with 5 kW or more, shops on A-2(c) and industries pay different rates at peak and off-peak times. These are the 2026 domestic rates from NEPRA’s tariff decision of 11 February 2026, before adjustments and tax.

Is the GEPCO unit price the same as LESCO or IESCO?
Yes, the base slab rates are the same for all government-owned DISCOs because the federal government notifies a uniform tariff. The monthly FPA is also usually uniform, so bills differ mainly because of units, load and taxes.
Does the GEPCO unit price include GST?
No. The slab rate is before tax. GEPCO adds 18% GST on the energy charges, fixed charges, adjustments and surcharge, so the price you pay per unit is higher.
What is the GEPCO fixed charge per kW?

Why did my GEPCO unit price go up this month?
Usually because you crossed a slab limit, lost protected status, or NEPRA approved a higher FPA. Check the units in your bill’s history table, then compare this month’s FPA with last month’s.
How often does the GEPCO unit price change?
The FPA changes almost every month and the QTA every quarter. Annual rebasing now takes effect each January, so the next scheduled change is January 2027, although the government can notify changes in between, as it did in February 2026.
Who gets the GEPCO lifeline rate?
Homes that have used 100 units or less a month over the last 12 months and have a very small sanctioned load. If a lifeline home crosses 100 units, it is billed at normal domestic rates.
